About the Challis, Idaho, Music Festival
Every year, the small town of Challis is taken over for an incredible festival: The Braun Brothers Reunion. Thousands of visitors gather together to enjoy traditional Americana and Texas country music over the span of three days. The musicians change each year, but you can check the lineup on their website!
The festival got its roots from the Braun family; Muzzie Braun and his brothers began this annual gathering in 1979. At the time, it was just a one-day concert out of the bed of a truck. They began to grow a larger following as more and more artists wanted to play with them, so it has since grown into the three-day Challis, Idaho, music festival we know and love today. Parts of the Braun family have since scattered across the United States, but they always make it back to Idaho at least once a year for the Braun Family Reunion.
What to Bring
The number one thing to bring to the Braun Family Reunion is seating. The outdoor concerts are all in a field, so blankets and lawn chairs are a must! You are also allowed to bring umbrellas for shade, but those must be set up in the back of the concert so you don’t obstruct anyone’s view.
Plus, you should always keep an eye on the weather. These concerts are also held rain or shine, so make sure to bring an umbrella or raincoat if showers are in the forecast. Sometimes a little water makes it even more fun! We also recommend bringing some warm clothes since the nights can get cool in Central Idaho.
Is There Food at the Festival?
There is plenty of food at the Braun Brothers Reunion! Outside food and beverages are not permitted on the grounds, so you will definitely want something tasty here. In the past, there have been tasty treats like fajitas, pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers, and more! Plus, there is a variety of beer and wine for those that are over 21 years of age.
