Discover Pine Flats Hot Springs

Why Should You Visit?

Pine Flats Hot Springs is a natural geothermal pool that lies along the beautiful banks of the Payette River. Central Idaho has a long list of incredible hot springs, but this gem is at the top of the list. Not only does Pine Flats Hot Springs boast scenic views across the river at the stunning mountain wilderness, but it also features a waterfall that cascades warm water into the pool. The main pool is entirely natural, but there is also a separate area at the top of the waterfall constructed with rocks and a tarp that’s easier to access for visitors with kids. If you only have time for one hot spring adventure during your time here, this is an excellent choice.

When Should You Visit?

Not many hot springs in Central Idaho have a combination of great views, waterfalls, and an incredible setting. Pine Flats Hot Springs checks all the boxes for a great experience. There isn’t a bad time to visit, but we recommend stopping by in the offseason or on a weekday if you want to get the pools to yourself. Crowds tend to linger in the summertime, especially when the Pine Flats Campground fills up. You can find parking along the side of the road or at the campground (when it is open).

How Can You Get There?

You can access Pine Flats Hot Springs year-round off County Highway 17. It’s about six miles down the road after you turn off Highway 21 in Lowman. You can either stop here as a fun detour during your drive from Boise to Stanley or as a day trip from the Redfish Lake Lodge. It’s only 15 minutes down the road from Kirkham Hot Springs so that you can turn it into an exciting hot springs adventure!
