The Best Hughes River ExpeditionsTrips

Family Rafting Trips

Nothing brings the family together like a rafting trip down the gorgeous Salmon River. Hughes River Expeditions offers fantastic rafting trips that the entire family will enjoy. These excursions include camping under the stars, tasty campsite eats, and tons of fun river activities. You can hike, swim, fish, or just read a book in the beautiful Idaho wilderness. Middle Fork of the Salmon River

Few rafting journeys rival the complete experience of rafting down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. Hughes River Expeditions provides five and six-day rafting adventures from June through September that can focus on anything from fly fishing to a wilderness expedition. On this trip, you’ll ride down 75 to 100 miles of the Salmon River with a mix of Class III and Class IV rapids. Check the HRE website for rates and specific dates.

Salmon River Canyons

Revel in the surging Class III and IV rapids that pulse through the Lower Salmon River canyons. You can take a four or five-day rafting or kayaking trip that includes food, beverages, and camping under the stars along the banks of the river. In addition to the exciting whitewater rafting available, you can also enjoy wildlife spotting in the surrounding mountains. Keep your eyes peeled for bighorn sheep, elk, cougars, and bobcats.

Selway River Trip

The Hughes River Company can take you even further north for a trip on the Selway River. This journey features riverbanks lined with towering pines, cedar trees, firs, and hemlocks, plenty of wildlife, and an incredible rafting experience. The challenging whitewater rapids range from Class II to Class IV+. HRE only offers four of these trips a year, and there are very few adventure companies that trek the Selway, so it will be just you, your guide, and the Idaho wilderness. There are also plenty of fantastic hiking opportunities here.

Specialty Trips

Hughes River Adventures plans a couple of specialty trips every year. These unique river experiences include an exclusive Middle Fork Salmon fishing trip and a Middle Fork of the Salmon jazz trip. There is a limited selection of dates for these trips, so book ahead!
