Hike the Fishhook Trail

Escape into the tranquility of nature with a hike along Fishhook Creek. This serene 4-mile roundtrip trail quickly immerses hikers in nature with minimal elevation gain. As you meander through the forest, bask in the peaceful ambiance of this picturesque hike. We especially enjoy this hike in early morning or in the cool of the evening. You may even catch a spectacular sunset as you enter Fishhook meadow and the beaver ponds at the end of the trail.

Witness the Kokanee Salmon Spawn

Last, we absolutely love watching the Kokanee spawn in mid to late August. These brilliant red fish swim up Fishhook creek to the lake to spawn, and with their life mission complete, their striking red slowly fades as they die and the circle of life continues on! Few people realize that one of the best places to watch these incredible creatures is from the inlet bridge just a 2-minute walk from Redfish Lake Lodge. Hundreds of Kokanee fill the creek, inviting Osprey to also come fishing. If you’ve never seen an Osprey dive for and catch fish then you’re in for one of Mother Nature’s most impressive shows!
